Text Box: Why List Your Boat with
Kirby Yachts Sales
Text Box: I am in the sailboat business because I love boats and boaters     Sailing isn’t just a business for me. I have raced and cruised the Great Lakes, the Caribbean, and beyond, on boats big and small, throughout my entire life.  Over that time, I have developed many friendships based on a mutual interest in boats and boating.  I love a day on the water whenever I can fit it in, but the importance of all this to my customers is that I have been there.  Whether the conversation is about water pumps, sail handling systems, diesels, or navigation equipment, I have plenty of first-hand, real-world experience to draw upon.
I know the market     I specialize in cruising and racing sailboats because that’s what I know.  Over the years, I have sold more than 700 keelboats so I know the boats, the process, and the intricacies of listing, marketing and selling.  I don't dabble in powerboats but will be glad to recommend a powerboat broker for you.
I am a full-time, professional broker     My reputation is my most important asset because this is my only business.  I don’t run a marina, a service company or sell new boats...so there's no conflict of interest.  My total focus is on selling your boat, not selling you added services to cover my overhead.  I am affiliated with the Yacht Brokers Association of America, a self-governing body that has enacted a code of ethics to which all member brokers subscribe.  I wholeheartedly support the Association’s initiatives and will be happy to provide additional information upon request.
Your listing is a priority     Because Kirby Yacht Sales is a small firm, I know my listings well.  I take the time to develop detailed gear lists with lots of photographs and provide immediate feedback as we start the sales process. To me, your boat is a valuable opportunity, not just another entry in the corporate ledger.
I can determine the best asking price for your boat     While price isn’t everything, it is an important element when selling your boat.  In addition to industry pricing guides published by BUC and NADA, I have access to a Sold Boats database maintained by YachtWorld, my multiple listing system of choice.  Price guides often show variances from one to the other of 20% or more, so I prefer to look at the facts – precisely what have similar boats been selling for over the past year or so. Using this information in conjunction with an on-board assessment, I can price your yacht with an eye toward a quick sale, or maximum return.
Your boat will be marketed on the internet and to fellow brokers across North America     I advertise my listings on the internet and through the multiple listing service to hundreds of fellow brokers. In addition to the KYS website, I chose YachtWorld as my primary internet presence because of their aggressive promotional capabilities.  YachtWorld is the dominant MLS website in the boating world, attracting more than 25 million page views per month – and your boat will be featured on one of those pages.
Your boat will be immediately available to over 1500 corresponding brokers     Yacht brokerage operates much like the real estate industry. I sell other brokers’ listings and they sell mine.  Listing your boat with me automatically puts it in front of more than 1500 other brokerages. If I don’t have an immediate buyer, they may.  I post my listings on the multiple listing network immediately – no stalling to see if I can attract a buyer before letting the world know about it.
I handle all the details for buyers and sellers     Between the day a sailboat comes on the market and the day of closing, a lot has to happen on time and with precision. A list of just the major activities would include: draft a gear list & take photographs, research pricing, post the listing on YachtWorld etc., respond to inquiries, set up showing appointments (usually on weekends), expect some no-shows, qualify the buyers, negotiate price, arrange financing, schedule the survey, attend the survey, obtain loan payoff amount, insure clear title, take care of state registration, titling, payment of applicable taxes, arrange for US Coast Guard documentation, collect all funds required for closing, conduct the closing, and distribute the proceeds. I handle all of these details personally...so sellers and buyers know they have experienced, professional guidance through a complicated process.
Let me go to work for you today!
